Robert Leonard came to DKC in 2000 with over a decade of media relations, public information, publicity, and crisis management experience. His current and recent clients include St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers of New York, Giuliani Partners, Continuum Health Partners, the Hunts Point Produce Cooperative and the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of both New York and New Jersey. He is also an active participant in DKC's renowned crisis management practice. In recent years, Robert has built a strong public safety practice at DKC which includes clients such as Motorola, Seagrave Fire Apparatus, the largest privately held ambulance company in the United States and a number of fire and emergency medical service organizations in the New York metropolitan region. His previous agency experience includes handling healthcare, social service, law enforcement and government affairs issues at the Manhattan-based public relations firm of Howard J. Rubenstein Associates. Robert also spent 10 years in the public sector, handling public information duties at several New York City agencies including the former Emergency Medical Service, the Mayor's Press Office under Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, the Fire Department and eventually rose to the rank of Assistant Commissioner for Public Information at the city's Department of Transportation. Immediately prior to joining DKC, Robert headed up media relations for the Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. and oversaw media relations activities related to the first declaration of an emergency alert at the Indian Point nuclear generating station. Robert is a nationally recognized author and lecturer on media relations and crisis communications for public safety agencies.
